15 Quirky & Unique Places To Eat & Drink In Edinburgh
"A post shared by Edinburgh Food Porn & Reviews (@plateexpectations) on Jul 7, 2017 at 3:45am PDT. Part of a chain of three restaurants dotted across Edinburgh, Maki and Ramen offers soothing bowls of broth with braised bean curd (or try the ‘Hell Ramen’ if you dare!) and then plenty of fresh sushi to have on the side or as an additional course. This is probably the best sushi restaurant on this list for vegetarians, too, thanks to its thoughtful and delectable vegetarian set dishes."

This shop is a little off the beaten path, but if you’re looking to take someone on a rainy day date (or you’re just too lazy to microwave yourself some soup – which I feel), head over to Maki Ramen and watch cars and people walk by while you guzzle down a bowl of hot ramen. Don’t forget to read the post-it note memories and doodles left on the wall by other customers, and maybe add your own to the mix!"
"The menu has been carefully prepared to bring a touch of home cooking to the heart of Scotland for all to enjoy. An ideal place for an intimate dining experience and the chance to enjoy authentic food."
"Image SourceThe market is an ideal place in Edinburgh to explore shops from leading-edge designers to fashion origins. The market is filled with designers, artists, and individuals selling crafts and classy clothes. Take a look for designer hats at Fabhatrix and Mr. Wood’s Fossils and if what you are looking for are old trend hats then Armstrong’s is the place to be."
"A post shared by Taste Edinburgh (@edinburghtaste) on Feb 20, 2018 at 1:27pm PST. Hendersons is known and respected for establishing Britain’s longest running Vegetarian restaurant. Since 1962 Hendersons has led the way in introducing the pleasures of vegetarian and vegan dining to the people of Edinburgh."
"Hendersons is a vegetarian institution, and one of the first veggie/vegan eateries in the city. There are now two branches in Edinburgh and one is totally vegan, as well as the salad bar restaurant and deli/shop. Expect dishes such as jackfruit stew, vegan haggis, soups, salads and tofu bowls."
"Make it a point to visit Hendersons of Edinburgh, a pleasant vegan restaurant, which you can find on Thistle Street and two other locations. Here, you get to taste healthy and tasty food preparations made using organic ingredients. This vegan food establishment is opened since July 2015."
"You want your proposal to be special, so forget about following your regular dinner date night routine and choose a more upscale eatery for the event. The Pompadour by Galvin is a Michelin star restaurant that won’t disappoint; it’s got an absolutely gorgeous interior, offers amazing castle views and is equipped with a drool-worthy menu. If you’re down to splurge even more, book a private room to make it a touch more intimate."

The Pompadour by Galvin at the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh Caledonian is suited to those with a fancy for the full fine dining experience, white tablecloths and all. This pukka restaurant possesses a palatial Victorian railway hotel feel and sublime Castle views."

"As its name suggests, Edinburgh Food Studio, located on a nondescript road a short cab ride from central Edinburgh, is the city's apex for gastronomes. Although it's a bona fide restaurant, EFS has the hum, chatter, and excitement of a pop-up. James Murray, the chef, and Ben Reade and Sashana Souza Zanella, the young, supremely knowledgable founders, sometimes appear to chat about ingredients and dishes."
"Far from the city centre throng, Edinburgh Food Studio is a tiny unassuming restaurant and ‘food research hub’ dishing up some of the most creative, nerdy and – fear not – delicious cuisine in the capital."
"Licks Cake Design is an award winning bake shop in Edinburgh. Their creative staff create cakes that are suitable for any kinds of events may it be a formal or novelty ones. They also occasionally offer price sales so make sure to always check their website."
"This is the place for a serious sweet addict – be aware that you will find it difficult to choose which calorie bomb to go for though!. If that’s the case just opt for the afternoon tea, which the Mimi’s Shore location in Leith is brilliant for. Perfect for a treat with the girls or as part of a hen do."
"Sweet, moist and beautiful to look at, Mimi’s cakes are reasonably priced too – on any day you might chow down on a raspberry chocolate brownie, caramel shortbread or Mars bar crispie whipped up on site. Soups, sandwiches and tarts are available for lunch."
"Good news for vegans out there, Mimi’s Little Bakehouse offers vegan cakes!. Aside from the traditional cakes, the shops also create cupcakes, traybakes, and brownies so you would have wider option to choose from."
"Tucked away in Edinburgh’s Old Town, the Urbane Art Gallery is one of the most cutting edge spaces in the city. It covers a range of artists and mediums, but the majority of work has a hint of urban delight about it. Visit the gallery’s website."
